I Was A Guest On The D&G Show

Last week, completely out of the blue, I received a text message from an unknown number while I was on-air at Radio One Mallorca. It read: “I actually like that new Bieber track. He’s all growd up now 🙂 – Good show today chap.” I replied that I agreed about the Bieber track and thanked the sender for the kind words about the show, adding that I didn’t have the sender’s number in my phone. “It’s G – From D&G aka Gordon” came the reply.

Gordon is a legend in these parts. He’s been manager and a director of BCM for many years, and BCM ranks in the Top 10 Clubs In The World Poll year after year. Prior to that position he was a resident DJ there in the 90’s. Prior to that, he was resident DJ at Hollywood in Romford, where I am sure I saw him work back when I was resident DJ at Mr B’s/Rain in Southend.

Gordon co-presents a show on Radio One Mallorca that airs on Wednesdays alongside the regular Drivetime host, Des Mitchell. The show is infamous for being outrageously funny, with Des trying to keep Gordon in check whist live on-air.

Des Mitchell is one of the world’s finest mixing DJ’s, with a career spanning decades at some of the world’s leading clubs, and he’s still going strong. During the summer he’s playing clubs around Europe and he spends the winter months at the 6 Senses, Laamu resort in the Maldives. he’s been host on the Radio One Drivetime show for around 8 years.

I’ve actually known Des for a number of years, he was a resident DJ at Tramp’s in Tenerife at the same time I was resident in Busby’s, I used to head to Tramp’s after work for a few drinks and Des would be there, mixing with vinyl on 4 decks at the same time!!

Back to the text chat with Gordon, he suggested I come in as a guest on their show for a chat and a “Ribena” (Code for alcoholic beverage), I replied that I love the D&G show and would love to pop along. Gordon then messaged me again on Tuesday suggesting I bring some comedy clips and my record of the year so far and a favourite dance track to the show, so I had something to add.

So yesterday I was a guest on the D&G show, laughed for almost 2 hours, enjoyed their company and sank a few Ribena’s. All good fun. I wish both Gordon & Des the very best for the future and my thanks for inviting me onto their crazy show.

Here’s a small clip from the show……
