As mentioned yesterday, my main Home Studio PC is currently being repaired and I’ve no idea how long it’ll take before I get it back. On yesterday’s radio show I replayed some pre-recorded ‘bits’ from previous shows but obviously it’d be much better for me to be able to record new ‘bits’ especially as my Sunday show is a compilation of the ‘bits’ from my weekday shows.
I have a decent laptop which I use for my DJ gigs but it didn’t have any audio editing software installed on it. I contacted the online store I’d bought Adobe Audition from for my main PC many years ago, but was informed that version 3.0 was no longer available, only Adobe’s subscription model (£20 per month) which I feel is way too expensive for the basic multi-channel audio editing that I need for radio shows/promos/production, etc. I do own a programme called Ableton Live which I use for music production, but it’s huge and well over the top for my basic radio production needs and I’d be reluctant to install it on my laptop as, like I’ve mentioned, It’s my live DJ gig machine.
Then to my surprise, the store owner emailed me a copy of the Adobe Audition programme, free of charge! I was delighted. All installed now and up and running after a few tweaks. I am so very grateful to this store, which will remain nameless (y’know, just in case), for helping me out of a pickle.
